Dog with a Blog

I thought I would put Tucker in the spotlight for this post, because he is also one of the favorite males in my life.

Tucker, is a purebred Siberian Husky. His birthday is March 31st, and he will be turning 2. Chris & I adopted him in late May, 2013, right after we lost our first baby. We adopted him VIA Kijiji, basically your Canadian version of craigslist. He was listed as a free, 1 year old pup, with all his up to date shots, followed by photos. I instantly fell in love. He was my dream dog. And FREE. How often are you going to come by a $2,000 purebred for free?!

After talking to his original owners through email, and getting more warmed up to the idea of a dog, I convinced my aunt to take me to go pick him up 2 hours away. My aunt is terribly allergic to dogs, so it took quite a bit of convincing. (My mom had NO idea about Tucker. We already owned 3 cats, & my little brother owned a dog as well, and she did NOT want anymore pets.)
After arriving at the owners house, I realized they were dog breeders. They had 20 kennels lined up in a barn, & 2 pits of young puppies in the corners. They also had training areas around the barn. They explained they bred showdogs, and Tucker was their pick from the litter. After trying to train him for months, and attempting to beat him into shape to win these shows, for money (No they didn't tell me they beat him, we realized after we had brought him home he was previously beaten.) They decided to give him away. At the time, his name was Monty. He didn't respond to the name at all, and I decided he didn't look like a Monty, and changed his name to Tucker, thanks to Chris's brother. (I told him to pick between Titan & Tucker, & he told me Tucker so we could call him 'Fucker' & he'll still listen) Haha.

After a LONG drive home, with my aunt who's allergic to dogs (you can only imagine how the drive went.) Me & Tucker arrived home and greeted Chris with big smiles. Tuck instantly warmed up to both of us, and we spent the whole night waiting for my mom to get home so we could show her our supprise. Tucker didn't exactly warm up to h
er, not for a few weeks anyways. But after meeting him she fell in love, and couldn't resist!

He's been a timid dog since the day we got him. He HATES people. (A result of the beating.) We've noticed he warms up to females faster than males, and since we brought him home hes come a LONG way. He warms up to people within the first hour or so of knowing them, and is overall the most friendly, not to mention most beautiful, dog in the world.
He loves his belly rubs, and to cuddle on the bed. Hes overly attached to me and Chris, and we can't be away from him for more than 10 minutes without him going crazy once we return. He has the biggest heart, and I never knew I could love something with 4 legs and fur, almost more than I love my own boyfriend (I'm just kidding, but it's pretty close.)
Tucker has grown so much, and has turned into such an amazing, kind hearted, family dog. I would never be able to replace him. Hes apart of the family. And always will be.
